I’m a bit of a planner. Okay, more like a major planner with a capital “P”. Remember last summer? July 1st came and so did full-on Christmas planning…homemade vanilla extract, bath salts, and more. Planning is just second nature.
Summertime is no exception. Fun is inevitable, and serious planning must take place. My typical plans include many classic summer activities: beach trips, water play-dates, sidewalk chalk, homemade bubbles, and trips to great-grandma’s pool. Most of the planned activities involve venturing away from our home. When it comes to activities in and around our home, I’m often at a loss. I want to engage my kids and plan fun activities, but the very thought is overwhelming.
Last month, I discovered the solution to my summer planning woes.
The solution arrived on a sunny May day, in a perfectly-sealed green box, nestled in my bright red mailbox. The kids and I eagerly opened the box labeled, “Green Kid Crafts”. The anticipation and excitement grew once we discovered the contents of our special package. Inside, we found…wait! I don’t want to just tell you, let me show you!
Our particular box, “The Botany Box”, was filled with three ready-to-go, nature-exploring activities:
- Plant press and herbarium
- Botanist kit and shadow box
- Botanical printmaking book
Each activity bag included a laminated instructional card and all the materials needed to get the fun started, everything from a magnifying glass to raised leaf cards and crayons. Plus, a free copy of Green Kid! Activities Guide – an online guide for activities, parent resources, book recommendations, and games. The perfect solution to my summertime planning woes!
The best part?
The fun doesn’t have to end after just one box. Green Kid Crafts is a mom-owned eco-friendly creativity and science kit subscription service. That means the work is done…no searching for ideas, materials, or spending hours on Pinterest. Each box is designed to develop open-ended creativity that encourages children to explore the world around them. The activities help build confidence and engage kids (ages 3-10) with nature.
Green Kid Crafts holds numerous awards, including: Dr. Toy’s Best Green Products of 2013, PTPA Seal of Approval, a recommendation from Parents’ Choice, MACT Excellence and MACT Green Awards and Red Tricycle’s Award for Most Awesome Subscription Service. And now, the best award of all… my kids’ seal of approval!
