When my family decided to make the switch from processed to real food, replacing household products with homemade solutions was not a priority.
I was a self-proclaimed Tide-lovin’ woman. There was talk in Facebook groups about making laundry soap and even surface cleaners, but the thought of making products for my home usually brought about a scoffing giggle, “Why in world would I want to make products like laundry soap and surface cleaner? ”
Shortly after making the food switch, Dustin and I noticed a dramatic improvement in our health and energy levels. It was at this time that my mind began spinning, “I wonder if making cleaning and body-care products at home with natural ingredients would also benefit my family?”
That month I purchased my first ever jar of bentonite clay, and whisked together a few natural ingredients, creating my very first homemade product: foundation powder. The recipe was a success and a few weeks later I decided to give up the expensive foundation powder I had been using for many years. I was intrigued, “What else can I make?”
In order to ensure that making homemade products would work for my family, I knew a few ground rules were necessary. I came up with two basic rules for all my future homemade projects:
Rule No. 1: A homemade product must be just as effective as a store-bought natural product.
Rule No. 2: A homemade product must be simple to make.
Slowly I began replacing many of the products I was using in our home with homemade alternatives. I’m living proof that a former Tide lover can make the switch from mystery solutions to natural cleaning products.
Today, our lifestyle is radically different than it was back in 2008, the year we started exploring “real food.” Our family is larger and noisier (hey kiddos!), our food is made with real ingredients, and we are more informed about the products we buy and/or make.
Now, I get it…
The whole process of making the switch to natural products can be a bit overwhelming. The process doesn’t need to be complicated or even exhausting, I promise.
After years and years of learning how to simplify natural products, I’m so excited to share this book with you. This eBook has been created to offer you a resource I wish I had back in 2008, a simple guide to show you how to make cleaners at home with simple ingredients you can actually pronounce and even feel safe using around your family.
No matter where you’re at on your natural living journey, I’m confident the recipes and tips shared within in this eBook will radically change the way you approach cleaning.
Small, practical changes are the building blocks to a doable long-term natural lifestyle.
