The morning rush is always a busy time.
Showers, clothes to be found (“Do we have any clean underwear?”), and breakfast to be made. It’s my least favorite part of the day, and the one meal I least look forward to making. But, each morning four people must be fed (along with eight chickens and two dogs).
Now, before I share the “meal” I make on busy mornings, let me just preface my next few paragraphs by saying, “I believe in chewing food!” You know, those pearly whites we have in our mouth? I believe we have teeth for a reason: chewing food. I don’t believe we are meant to just drink our food. I love to sink my teeth into a good grass-fed burger and crunch away on a stalk of celery.
With that said, I’m all for a good food drink (AKA: smoothie). Smoothies are quick, require zero cooking, and pack a ton of plant-based nutrition. On busy mornings, smoothies can save breakfast, creating an on-the-go meal without much fuss. I like to pair morning smoothies with a homemade baked good (muffins/toast) from the freezer or a protein (hard-boiled eggs).
